Internet Dating

I am trying to decide if I should sign up for Yahoo's Personals service or not. My experience with internet dating has not been good in the past. I have put time and effort into it without good results. I have never had a third date with anyone I have ever met via personal ad.

Another problem is that I am not sure how much effort I can put into looking for a match on the internet. When I am on the internet I am usually writing, reading, or looking at flickr. Almost all of these things are connected to my blog. I am usually reading things that I want to write about. I am not sure how much time I will put into making my profile work. I am also not sure I am willing to put the time into looking at other people's profiles. I know I feel discouraged after looking at profiles for hours and not finding any that interest me.

The problem is that I have no idea how to meet single women. At least I have no idea how to meet single women who would date me. I know very few single women. None of the people I know will introduce me to single women. I will admit that I am more that willing to be set up by my friends. Until that happens I need other ways to meet women.

There is something about paying for a dating service that rubs me the wrong way. It is not that I feel bad about paying for the service. I feel bad because my experience is that these services are usually not worth the money. I have a very hard time meeting people with these services.

Tell me if you have any experience with current internet dating sites. I am wondering if some are better than others.
